And I don't see why AoF grants more control over a situation - at best it boosts a single prot and a single heal (which you may not have) every 8 seconds, or acts as a small prot itself.
I can't see this greatly affecting the outcome of a situation, certainly not in the way some of your other, non-elite skills would, or indeed in the way a single power heal like Word would.

Admittedly I have not tried running AoF. Justiciar Thommis is the bounty on the 7th - maybe I'll try it then.
I'm extremely comfortable with this build, yes. I'll run it with PuGs too. Aura of Faith isn't good because it's inherently overpowered; it doesn't god-mod any situation, but when used correctly it's very effective. Then only bad thing about Aura of Faith is that unlike elites like WoH, UA, etc., you don't get any rewards for mindless play.

I play builds like this for the exact purpose of preventing things from going downhill, and I do a relatively good job of it.

OR 2 hybrids who have enough energy to cover the likely targets* with PS's or SB's or a combo of the 2 and take 30 damage, or even get healed by the Orb?...('600' style)...giving room for aegis chains, coverage of all the necessary large + small prots, cleaning and pressure mop up, and more than enough red bar pushing with dual Woh or Woh+Hburst, or even more emphasized cleaning with RC ect. With enough redundancy that if one monk takes a dirt nap the other isnt gimped with a lack of prot or redbar, that doesn't compromise the bar in the first place...

Ive never seen the need myself to have to dedicate more than 2 direct heals to a bar, usual a main heal like Woh and a 2ndry heal like kiss, Patient
or a rof for bar stabilizing*not healing* The need for a full DF+heal or ful lDF+prot bar with such high attributes has always seems over kill with breakpoints and the minor boosts you get..

Either way! if it works best for you, then who am i to stand in your way!..enjoy your monking *non-sarcasm btw, before any detectors go off xD*

Tho i will say id rather run DF+heal and DF+prot backline than Hb+Ua mimicry...with all redbar..*shudders*

*(for monks that can watch and play the field properly with pre-prots..the same skills needed to run AoF in a preemptive way)

You folks are forgetting that AoF heals outright for 83ish on cast (Divine Favor is doubled), so in addition to saving 150 health, you (preemptively) heal 80 some and stop a spike in it's tracks. Of course, if you know the orb is coming, Spirit Bond and grab a smoke.

It's not the optimal bar and there are other better bars. Personally, I love it with Divine Boon, but that's just me.
Something like Boon, AoF, RoF, Dismiss, Guardian/SoA, Selfless Spirit, Seed, Remove Hex.
Dismiss on an AoF'd target is around a 300ish heal, if memory serves (with boon up) and if your partner is pushing bars, there will be over healing.

The other thing to remember is that the cast of AoF buys you a little time. So the argument of WoH is faster, while accurate, doesn't take into account that you have bought yourself a little more time because of the heal combined with the prot. In addition, you may need more than just pure healing on any given target. AoF strikes a nice balance of an immediate heal, and a pretty nice prot with a healing benefit.

Lastly, you will not get interupted on the cast.
